ARTWORK > Double Dutch

In homage to the Paterson Art Factory’s past as a facility that spun hemp into rope, this booklet show two ropes in a game of Double Dutch. These drawings were originally made for video with audio, as the machinery used for the production of rope has a similar rhythmic sound as that of the two ropes hitting the ground in Double Dutch. Instead, the accordion booklet follows this rhythm. Each page shows the ropes turning simultaneously, moving in tandem with each other. By removing the action of the person turning the rope, the drawings reflect on the dynamic between the two entities that move separately while maintaining a dialogue side by side.
